Hey Jealousy
So a few entries earlier I mentioned a party that I attended last weekend. The party was loads of fun and I had a generally good time. The party also made me appreciate some of the women that have been my good friends since college. So the party was a good mix of people from different departments and such. There was a fairly ok mix of guys and girls and people were getting along well. People were also playing a lot of beer pong and getting nicely drunk. A few people were very drunk when I showed up at bit before 10.
At this party there are a few guys who remind me a good guy friend from college we’ll call him Smiley. Smiley was a great guy with a great smile and the cutest dimples. He was also quite cute and a general flirt. Once while discussing Smiley my roommate, Naked, commented that he was just the type of boy you could never take seriously. He flirted with everyone and when he flirted with you enjoyed it but never really thought it meant anything.
Anyway, there were a few guys just like this at the party. They’re very nice guys who are a great time to hang out with. However I, perhaps due to Smiley, find that generally I just want to flirt with them a little and then go along my merry way. One of these guys was quite drunk and up to the normal tricks but this time seemed more settle on one of the girls at some point in the evening. This caused a very interesting phenomenon that I was quite surprised by. Suddenly several of the girls at the party were quite upset. Even a few that seemed to be on the verge of dating other people. At that moment I was reminded of something else Naked used to say, “The thing that I find most attractive in a guy is that he has the good taste to be interested in me.” I think there’s something to this statement that I really took to heart after she said it. I guess I don’t take flirting, in that way at least, as a sign of interest. But, other people must.
So after an evening of having flirty boy asking me why everyone hated him and girls coming up to me and talking about how jealous they were I really missed Naked and Nire. And, I’m very happy that they are both in relationships that seem to make them even more confident and happy. I’d really like to find a relationship like that as well. I guess I have to admit I’m a little jealous.
