Belatedly Back - Email Entertainment

Posted in internet, midwest, overheard, politics at 9:58 am by sarahdipity

So there was a small outage that then turned into a longer outage of posts.  However, now that I’m done traveling for a bit I should be able to resume posting more frequently.  I have some neat recipes for “Why are We All So Hungry” (thanks to Nire for the great name).

Now onto the point of this post.

It was recently primary season and the good people of Ohio’s 6th Congressional voted.  The outcome was that Bill Johnson won and is the Republican candidate for the Congressional seat.  I don’t know much about Bill.  He seems to be a businessman and according to his website  (www.billjohnsonleads.com) he mostly seems to focus on economic issues.  I do know one thing about Bill that very few people know.  Someone on his team thinks they have my email address. I’ve been signed up on the volunteer mailing list, I’ve received email about dinners, and best yet for a period of time it I was sent the information of people who want to support and/or help volunteer for Bill.  I estimate it to be in the range of 40 emails including things like full names, phone numbers, occasionally full addresses, and sometimes text explaining philosophical standpoints.  There aren’t really any great one liners to share with you guys.
I haven’t really done anything and it seems like someone’s figured out the error because the emails have stopped.  I can understand someone making a mistake and making a typo with their email address.  But it still creeps me out a little.  I guess the message is: be careful with your personal information if you don’t want others to have it.  And if you’re a politician, um maybe don’t do this, unless you want to send your emails to me.  I love overheard conversations.
