Beauty
Ann is doing a series of posts about finding beauty in unexpected places. When Ann introduced the idea it really struck a chord with me. It’s so easy to get lost in all of the things you must do to let life just pass you by. This has been especially true for me this last month with paper reviews, grant deadlines, paper deadlines, and travel for work.
This morning when I was leaving work so late that it was officially early. My co-authors and I stopped and just stared at the sky. It was the very beginning of dawn, when the sky is the perfect blend of deep blue mixed with purple as night slowly fades away. I think my co-worker said it best when he said, “Sometimes it’s just nice to be up early enough to see a morning sky like this.”

I often wish I could get up earlier/stay up later to witness this. I hope things start to slow down for you a bit (or that you can be like me and be in a state of denial, “What? I’m not busy, no. Student papers, dissertation, publications, conference in a month. I don’t know what your talking about.”
