On the Road Again
It’s been a crazy month. From the middle of July to the middle of August I will be home exactly one of the four weeks. Traveling is exhausting and the fact that two of the trips are for work is just compounding the exhaustion. However traveling has been somewhat enlightening. During the first trip I realized that the reason I have no interest in having our wedding in a hotel is that while hotel ballrooms are very lovely I associate them with Computer Science conferences. While we all know that I think science is cool I don’t want to have the feel of a CS conference. I think that there are much cooler science venues out there.
This trip, the second, has been interesting in that I am the only woman here. Ok, there are a couple other women, I see them at lunch on occasion. But for all intents and purposes for work I am the only woman I have seen in a week. Even the CS conference was full of women. It is just sorta creepy. The place we’re working with is nice and the guys are great; but it’s still strange to be the only woman around.
